Planning & Policy, Resource Consents

4Sight's Dunedin Planning team worked closely alongside Feldspar, Parker Warburton and Transport Planner, Grant Fischer, to secure the resource consent on a non-notified basis for number 293 Kaikorai Valley Road, Dunedin - an industrial zoned property that was once the former home of the Tamahine Knitwear site.

It's been proposed that the building be regenerated into a contemporary, mixed-use precinct housing sport and recreation, industrial and trade-related retail, and cafe facilities. The proposal involves alterations to the building's facade including increased areas of glazing and re-painting, and the demolition of 3' bays' at the northern end of the existing structure (on the Kaikorai Valley Rd frontage). A new section is also planned, which will be the location of a café or restaurant.

The result of a non-notified consent was an excellent outcome for the client and is of particular importance as it was granted during Alert Level 4 of the COVID-19 pandemic lockdown. It is yet another success story for our Dunedin team, and we are looking forward to seeing this once manufacturing hub be re-imagined into something modern that can be enjoyed by the whole community.
