AN INNOVATIVE PROBLEM SOLVER WHO CAN GENERATE WORKABLE SOLUTIONS, ALISON IS A RESULTS-DRIVEN ACHIEVER.
Joining the 4Sight team in February 2020 as a Senior Coastal Consultant in the Planning and Policy team, Alison’s expertise lie in contributing to the analysis of complex coastal technical issues, undertaking coastal hazard assessments and coastal management projects.
Alison has 10+ years of experience and has worked on projects throughout New Zealand and the United Kingdom, in both the public and private sectors, providing coastal science and flood risk management inputs. During her time in the UK, Alison was involved in undertaking coastal hazard assessments and fluvial flood risk assessments to accompany planning applications for new developments.
Alison’s academic background is in coastal science with a focus on hydrodynamic and sediment transport processes on open coast beaches. She has built up practical experience in coastal process modelling and 1D hydraulic and 2D hydrodynamic flood and breach modelling, of which she has applied to a range of coastal and fluvial flood risk management issues.
Alison has been passionate about the coast since she was a child, and having grown up in Mount Maunganui, she spent a lot of time at the beach and always felt a strong connection to the coast. Alison has recently taken up surfing as a hobby and continues to enjoy spending her spare time at the Mount beach with her two kids. She is also an active member of the New Zealand Coastal Society and a regional representative for the Bay of Plenty region.
