David believes that by designing at an intimate scale, you can unlock the potential to create spaces that enhance our environment and create a unique sense of place and identity.
David joined the 4Sight team in November 2020 as an Intermediate Landscape Architect based in our Wellington office.
With a Masters of Landscape Architecture from Victoria University in Wellington, David started his career as a Landscape Architect in Queenstown where he gained invaluable experience in urban and rural subdivisions that had complex ecological risks/enhancement opportunities and potential visual adverse effects to the surrounding landscape. To mitigate such risks, David drafted Design Guidelines and supporting Landscape Visual Assessments for proposed developments.
His interests within the field of landscape architecture encompass designing at an intimate level to enhance public life, ecology, and the surrounding environment. From that intimate scale, David believes we can improve how we approach a subdivision, public space, or master planning project.
When he is not in the office, David is heavily involved in charitable work around the Wellington region and is on the committee for Kids Camps New Zealand - a charity devoted to assisting children aged between 7-11 who have come from situations of abuse, neglect, and abandonment. He also enjoys immersing himself in the outdoors, whether it be camping or hiking, and enjoys basketball on the court and from the comfort of his couch.
David is a member of the New Zealand Institute of Landscape Architects and is currently working towards gaining his registration.
