HANNAH IS DRIVEN TO PROTECT AND RESTORE NEW ZEALAND’S BIODIVERSITY ON LAND, WATER AND SEA. SHE APPROACHES EVERY PROJECT WITH A VIEW TO FINDING THOSE WIN-WIN SCENARIOS THAT WORK WITHIN NATURE, NOT AGAINST IT.

Passionate about nature and ecosystems from an early age, Hannah started with 4Sight in March 2019 as a Senior Ecology Consultant in the Ecology team.

With expertise in bat ecology, freshwater systems and lake restoration, integrated catchment management, ecosystem services, as well as avifauna and lizard ecology, she has 8 years’ experience working for various ecology and environmental consultancies and has a PhD in freshwater ecology. Her research focused on lake restoration, catchment impacts on water quality, land use change and ecosystem services, and has been published in major international peer-reviewed journals.

In her current role, Hannah designs and implements ecological surveys, undertakes ecological effects assessments, ecological management and restoration plans, presents expert witness evidence at hearings, liaises with stakeholders, and project manages. She is CEnvP certified and loves the fact that she is able to contribute to the conservation and restoration of New Zealand’s beautiful and unique ecosystems from a local to a policy level every day.

In her spare time, she likes to get involved in her community on environmental matters, whether it’s community plans, sharing her scientific knowledge with others, or helping out with beach clean ups. For a number of years, she has hosted nocturnal tours of Hamilton’s park for both children and adults, hunting for bats and other critters as part of the Waikato Museum bat tours. And when she’s not wearing her Ecology hat, she can be found running on trails, kite surfing, paragliding, doing yoga, and going on adventures with her partner and dogs.
