a highly experienced ecologist, ruth specialises in freshwater investigations.
Ruth joined the 4Sight team in March 2022 as a Principal Ecologist based in our Dunedin office.
Ruth came across from Ryder Environmental (now part of 4Sight Consulting), and specialises in freshwater investigations and has broad skills in freshwater ecology gained from over 17 years of experience in consultancy. Ruth’s resource management experience is backed by a PhD in Zoology, which focused on interactions between introduced and native fish, a Postgraduate Diploma in Wildlife Management, and a BSc in Zoology.
Ruth is particularly engaged in the assessment of effects and is involved in all parts of the process, from undertaking and managing field assessments through to the preparation and presentation of evidence at resource consent and environment court hearings. Ruth has extensive experience with assessing and monitoring of effects in relation to instream works, discharge consents, water abstractions and hydroelectric power generation, including potential effects on water quality, aquatic habitat in general, and in particular, fish migration.
