Duncan enjoys the conversation and process that questions ideas but ultimately delivers better outcomes for the community and environment.
Duncan started with the 4Sight team in April 2021 and has over 25 years of experience as a professional planner in New Zealand and Australia.
Based in our Christchurch office, Duncan has extensive experience with a range of development projects, including port terminals, mobile telecommunications, industrial activities, commercial activities, and residential subdivisions. His most recent projects include large road/rail transport and energy projects. He has also provided expert evidence for clients in the Environment Court to seek better planning outcomes.
Duncan has worked for Councils across Canterbury (and New Zealand), various private and public organisations, and has represented clients through resource consents, plan changes, submissions, and reporting.
Returning to Christchurch in September 2015 after nine years in Australia, Christchurch is Duncan's hometown which he believes has re-emerged stronger and more resilient following the earthquake events of 2010 and 2011 - something Duncan puts down to planning.
When he's not hard at work or out in the field, you will find Duncan restoring a small area of former farmland on the edge of his home in Banks Peninsula, which he plans to plant in native trees and plants to create a habitat corridor for Tui. It will also create an even more exciting living space for his home, where he will now be able to see and hear native birds and reptiles as the trees and plants mature.
