4Sight has assisted with assessing ecological effects and ecological restoration and management for various solar farm proposals in the North Island.

The ecological assessments conducted included fauna habitat assessments, lizard surveys, bird surveys, bat surveys, and wetland delineation.

Working closely with the 4Sight Planning and Landscape teams, we have developed solutions that tap into renewable energy use opportunities while enhancing environmental outcomes, including substantial restoration planting of riparian areas and wetlands.

4Sight has also worked with local iwi representatives to ensure all outcomes relating to the project have a long-term focus and consider all ecological, environmental, and planning aspects. For example, considering the lifecycle of the solar panels, linking restoration outcomes to taonga species, placing the development as a whole within the wider landscape context, right through to restoring connectivity lost through previous agricultural land use.
