Do you have: 
  • Tertiary qualification in Zoology, Ecology or Environmental Science; or relevant practical experience

  • Experience in ecology fieldwork, e.g. bat surveys, aquatic surveys, habitat assessments

  • Knowledge or experience in ecological effects assessment, management and restoration 

  • New Zealand ecology knowledge

  • Good time management and organisational skills    

  • Experience in GIS would be beneficial but not essential 

  • Good computer and data management skills

  • Enthusiasm to learn new skills and work collaboratively with a small group of specialists

  • A positive, solutions-oriented approach to work

We are a growing company, and we’re now seeking an Ecology Consultant to come and join our dedicated team in Gisborne. We work with a variety of clients and projects, so if you’re looking for a new challenge in a fast-paced, multi-disciplinary consultancy where no two days are the same, this opportunity could be for you! 

In this role, you will mainly be involved fieldwork, including freshwater and marine ecology work, requiring you to visit specified sites and assist other Ecology team members in taking samples for analysis and processing. You will learn to work with our clients - local and central government agencies, the private sector, iwi/hapū, local community members and a wider range of experts in varying disciplines. Our focus is to deliver balanced outcomes for a range of projects, from developments to catchment-wide management and restoration strategies, all of which you will be a part of. 

You might be a master's graduate, already be a consultant, or maybe you are a DOC Ranger or Land Management Officer looking for a new opportunity where you can use your skills.
