PASSIONATE ABOUT POSITIVE ENVIRONMENTAL OUTCOMES FOR LAND AND URBAN SPACES.
Based in our Dunedin office, James joined the 4Sight team in December 2019 as a Planning and Policy Consultant.
James has a Master of Planning and BSc (Geography) BAppSc (GIS) from Otago University and comes to us from Heritage New Zealand, where he was an intern Planning Advisor. During his time at Heritage New Zealand, he was responsible for fulfilling the statutory advocacy functions for the Otago Southland area office which involved reviewing policy plans and resource consents and providing advice to developers and Councils on heritage matters.
He grew up on a lamb and beef farm in South Canterbury, so he has a strong connection to the land and the role of kaitiaki in managing our environment. But it wasn’t until he moved to the city that it sparked his interest in planning, transport, heritage and urban development related issues.
When he’s not in the office, James is heavily involved with Basketball Otago not only as a referee but as a player and member of the St Kilda Men’s Basketball Club. And if he’s not playing it, he’s most likely watching it, as he follows the NBA religiously.
