ENTHUSIASTIC AND COMMITTED TO EXCELLENCE, JOANNA IS MOTIVATED TO PROVIDE EXPERT PLANNING ASSISTANCE THAT DELIVERS POSITIVE AND SUSTAINABLE OUTCOMES.

Joanna has more than 10 years of experience working as a Planner in both New Zealand and the United Kingdom. Majoring in Environmental and Development Studies at university, Joanna has a broad academic background encompassing environmental resource management, climate change, sustainable development, Māori resource management, environmental economics, environmental law and ecology. 

Over the past few years, Joanna been involved in the central government’s national direction work programme under the RMA and has more recently supported the development of national direction for incorporation under the reformed resource management system. 

She has supported local growth planning processes, including the development of a regional spatial plan, a Future Development Strategy for the Wellington region and a growth strategy for Kāpiti Coast District Council. Joanna has also provided planning expertise to Councils undertaking district plan and regional policy statement reviews, including Kaipara District Council and Greater Wellington Regional Council.

Joanna has extensive stakeholder engagement and community consultation experience, and enjoys working closely with tangata whenua, elected representatives, communities, government agencies, council staff and stakeholders to develop and facilitate positive project outcomes.

Her consenting experience covers both Council processing and resource consent applications. Joanna has obtained consent for a range of projects, including large-scale solar farms, high-voltage cable routes, multi-unit residential subdivisions and housing developments, and works affecting waterbodies.

Joanna’s experience also includes undertaking planning risk assessment for potential new developments or prospective purchasers and reporting on planning due diligence to assist with the acquisition, construction or refinancing of projects. As a graduate, her initial focus was on planning compliance, undertaking a complete review of over 50 solar farms.
