A keen outdoorsman, Josh is a high achiever with a love for the planning profession.
Josh started with the 4Sight team as an intern in our Dunedin office in December 2020 before transitioning to a Graduate Planning and Policy Consultant in December 2021 after graduation.
Now based in our Wellington office, Josh works alongside our Planning team, assisting with consent drafting and policy work, for example, the proposed Wellington District Plan, Telecommunications 5G Wellington rollout, and Certificate of Compliance (2degrees).
With a Master's Degree in Planning from the University of Otago, Joshes thesis examined public participation provisions in the new natural and built environment legislation, with a specific focus on the plan-making process. He was listed on the Geography Department's Deans List for high academic achievement and was also awarded the University of Otago Scholarship in Arts (2019).
Josh believes that civic engagement lies at the heart of the planning professions' ethos, whether you're working in the private or public sector, and the value planners place on local democratic decision-making is what drew him into the profession. Josh feels that balancing this core service with long-term sustainable outcomes will provide a challenging and ever-rewarding career pathway long into the future for him.
When he's not in the office or out in the field, Josh loves the great outdoors, particularly camping and tramping. He also enjoys long-distance running, reading, biking, playing squash and badminton.
