What a great opportunity for the new year! We're looking for a National Ecology Manager, with exceptional technical and people skills to lead our Ecology service line nationwide. You will be responsible for our second largest team, with over 30 talented professionals based across six offices in Auckland, Tauranga, Gisborne, Hamilton and Dunedin covering marine, freshwater and terrestrial ecology.  Throughout New Zealand, our energetic Ecology team supports our clients to achieve positive environmental outcomes for our wildlife and water, conducting fieldwork to complete ecological impact assessments, environmental and water quality monitoring, and creating management plans.  There aren't many places or environments across the country where our Ecologists haven't been seen!

In this senior leadership role you will be responsible for the overall success of the Ecology service line in New Zealand for 4Sight – Part of SLR Consulting.  In particular you will be responsible for supporting the development and delivery of the strategy for the discipline, ensuring the team develops the appropriate capabilities to provide the right solutions and advice for our clients, and that the various teams are appropriately resourced.  

You will proactively encourage collaboration with our other technical disciplines, as well as identifying and securing new business opportunities that align with 4Sight/SLR's purpose and values. This will include working with colleagues across the broader Asia Pacific Region (and beyond) and core client management. You will also be able to affect positive change from the top down, and lead an effective practice known for the of delivery of innovative solutions that balance the needs of land, people and water. As such you will be required to support and manage various processes, such as performance management, remuneration reviews, and system improvement initiatives.  

You will be expected to meet agreed financial and people leadership targets and will be required to provide strategic input for high level ecology projects, along with specific technical advice and peer review. Most importantly you will ensure our Ecology team is operating effectively, collaboratively and doing what they love!

In summary, this role will provide high level direction, technical competence, assist with resource allocation and development plans, and help drive strategic business development nationwide.
