WITH A FORTHRIGHT PERSONALITY, KAREN IS A LATERAL THINKER, WITH A KEEN ANALYTICAL ABILITY AND SOUND JUDGEMENT
Karen has been a full Member of the New Zealand Planning Institute since 1995, and as you would expect, has an extensive knowledge of the theory and application of statutory implementations, resource consents, and all policy aspects of resource management. Now a Principal Planning Consultant at 4Sight Consulting, she previously worked at Burton Planning Consultants where she was a Director between 2005 and 2018. Prior to moving into consultancy in 1997, Karen worked in both local and central government.
She is a proven and respected planner in the industry, with her experience including the successful delivery of policy advice and the preparation of a wide variety of resource consent applications for a range of clients - including councils, property developers and private individuals, and providing analysis of and submissions on a variety of statutory and non-statutory resource management documents throughout the country such as Regional and District Plans, Plan Changes and ad-hoc policy documents. Karen has also assisted in the preparation and lodgement of private Plan Changes, presentation of evidence and submissions on resource management aspects of a wide range of issues (at both policy and consent levels) and including land development matters (particularly residential and recreational), utilities, contaminated land, hazardous substances, noise, water and soil issues.
Karen is a confident, adaptable and enthusiastic person, whose comprehensive understanding of the broader planning process gives her the ability to maintain a strategic vision while maintaining attention to detail - a strong combination.
