IT’S THOSE “AHA!” MOMENTS THAT DRIVE MIKE, BELIEVING THAT GREAT THINGS WILL HAPPEN WHEN TEAMS GET ACCESS TO THE RIGHT INFORMATION
Mike joined the 4Sight team in September 2019 as the Digital and Geospatial Lead.
In his role, Mike drives the use of geospatial technologies and information within the 4Sight business and helps our clients better understand, and get the most value out of, their own digital assets.
Mike has experience across a broad range of organisations and sectors having previously managed the geospatial team at Opus, working as a scientist at NIWA, and as a GIS analyst at Manukau City Council and Manukau Water. Most recently, Mike has been working as a project manager in the academic sector with the New Zealand eScience Infrastructure (NeSI) providing High Performance Computing and related services to New Zealand researchers.
As a competent people and project manager, and certified agile facilitator and coach, Mike realises the importance of creating the right environments for teams to deliver real value. He has managed complex projects with both Land Information New Zealand (LINZ) and the New Zealand Transport Agency (NZTA) to deliver business cases on the value of their fundamental data-sets. These projects involved consulting with a large range of stakeholders across the public and private sector to build a case for further investment in digital assets. More recently as Strategic Projects Manager at NeSI, he managed and coordinated NeSI’s portfolio of strategic initiatives.
He has strong relationships across the geospatial industry in Australasia and previously represented Opus on several industry associations such as the Spatial Industries Business Association (SIBA) and the NZ Institute of Surveyors (NZIS) Spatial Stream Committee. Mike was also a finalist for the NZ Spatial Excellence Awards (NZSEA) Spatial Professional of the year in 2014.
