The Plimmerton Domain Dog Recreation Area is the newest off-leash play space for Porirua locals and their beloved canines, and 4Sight’s Landscape Architecture team assisted with the design, detailing and construction oversight of the new facility on behalf of Porirua City Council.

The new facility was designed with input from a local Volunteer Design Group to provide for off-leash dog exercise areas for canines of various sizes, activity ranges and temperaments by creating three separately fenced areas.

The intention of the design was to provide an active experience for owners and their dogs, with internal trail loops, doggie park obstacles and plenty of free running space. The park also features a dog shower to give satisfied pooches a much-needed hose down before they jump in the car or walk home.

Since opening in May 2020, the facility has been a huge hit with locals and seems to have provided some much-needed outdoor socialisation (for owners and their pets) following our March 2020 COVID-19 lockdown.
