Calm. Objective. Creative. Motivated. rachael is Strong on having a good rationale and clear reasoning.

Rachael joined the 4Sight team in February 2021 as a Senior Landscape Planner based in our Christchurch office.

With 18+ years of experience and a dynamic work history, Rachael brings with her a wealth of knowledge. Despite studying landscape architecture and spending most of her career specialising in landscape planning, she also spent nearly three years in a local government role as an Urban Designer. Her experience has enabled her to take an across-the-spectrum perspective and carry out design reviews from both a landscape and an urban design viewpoint. Rachael believes these issues are knitted together, and her broader approach can offer more significant opportunities to facilitate well-resolved project outcomes.

Her current role at 4Sight entails writing and peer-reviewing landscape and visual assessments, which can often involve providing evidence and attending hearings, and providing project design advice. She also enjoys undertaking broader landscape studies and getting involved in shaping design related policy or provisions with an end goal of always facilitating the best 'on the ground' outcomes.

When she's not in the office, Rachael is the number one cheerleader for her kids and enjoys knitting, sewing and macramé (her non-consent related chance to be creative!). Despite a sworn allegiance to indigenous vegetation (as a Registered Landscape Architect), she is quietly developing a perennial border at home… and the bees love it!
