The 4Sight team has extensive experience investigating and consenting various renewable energy generation and transmission projects, including:
Environmental Compliance for the Turitea wind farm 220kV transmission lines
Review of RMA compliance risk for the lenders to a wind farm project
Site scoping planning reviews for multiple potential solar farm sites in the North Island
Planning, ecology, landscape and iwi engagement advice for a proposed grid-scale solar farm in the North Island
Preliminary due diligence on other North Island solar and wind farms
Review of RMA national direction on renewable electricity generation and electricity transmission
We use our expertise to provide cost-effective and time-efficient advice related to planning and environmental risk, while our in depth understanding of renewable energy issues, combined with our policy, project skills and experience, means that we are well placed to assist clients in New Zealand’s necessary transition to a low emissions future.
Thanks to our comprehensive knowledge of the regulatory requirements, and experience consenting renewable energy projects, we can provide a range of technical inputs and risk assessments to our clients that enable them to make informed investment decisions. We can also assist with all planning, policy, iwi engagement, ecology, and landscape architecture decisions, including:
High-level preliminary risk assessments which allow developers to make informed decisions about site selection at an early stage, saving time and costs;
Leading engagement and consultation with mana whenua;
Providing technical planning, ecological and landscape assessments and project management services to support developments through the consenting stage; and
Due diligence reporting assistance, helping our renewable energy clients highlight project risks and ensuring that consented developments are carried out according to planning permissions.
In addition to project development work, we work with central government on policy options to enable the development of renewable energy generation and transmission through the resource management reforms and national direction. We also advise local authority clients on plan provisions to provide for the development, operation and upgrading of renewable energy generation.
