Practical and pragmatic, Samantha is solutions focussed and approachable.
Samantha started with the 4Sight team in September 2021 as Principal Planning and Policy Consultant based in our Auckland office.
Having worked in Australia and New Zealand, Samantha's experience has predominantly been in local government, giving her a thorough understanding of land-use and subdivision planning and development.
She came to 4Sight from Auckland Council, where she was the Team Leader of a busy west Auckland growth area and managed all aspects of consent processing for the Red Hills, Whenuapai, Westgate, Hobsonville Corridor, Hobsonville Point and Scott Point suburbs. She represented Council at hearings and through Environment Court mediations, prepared evidence and affidavits for the High Court, and was involved in successful prosecutions under the RMA. The role also saw her develop an astute set of people management skills managing a team of planners and overseeing a busy workload, relationship management, project input, and liaising with the public and local boards and other interested parties.
In her current role, Samantha is responsible for preparation, advice and lodgement of resource consents, mentoring and coaching junior staff, and technical advice and preparation of evidence. She is motivated by the complexity and ever-changing legislative environment that the planning industry represents and is always eager to learn and develop new skills, which she then likes to share with the team and our clients.
When she is not in the office, Samantha volunteers for the SPCA as a foster parent for cats and kittens and volunteers for Big Brothers Big Sisters, an organisation that seeks to establish and support long term, consistent and meaningful mentoring relationships between young people and caring adult volunteers.
