WITH A POSITIVE ATTITUDE AND STRONG WORK ETHIC, SHANNEN PROVIDES EXPERTISE ACROSS A RANGE OF ENVIRONMENTAL DISCIPLINES.
Born and raised in rural Whanganui, Shannen has always had an appreciation for the natural world that surrounds her, which lead her to pursue a career that would represent the best interest of the environment.
In 2018, Shannen gained her Bachelor of Science with a double major in Geology and Ecology and Biodiversity from Victoria University of Wellington. Today, she puts her expertise in both disciplines into practice as an Environmental Consultant at 4Sight, conducting environmental field work and technical reporting on a diverse range of projects across our Land and Water Quality and Ecology teams.
Within our Land and Water Quality team, Shannen undertakes environmental investigation design, implementation and reporting on surface and groundwater, sediment and soil quality. Shannen is particularly skilled at contaminated land management, routinely undertaking Preliminary and Detailed Site Investigations and producing Contaminated Site Management and Remedial Action Plans, and Site Validation Reports.
Within our Ecology team, Shannen undertakes assessments across the freshwater and terrestrial environment, including Stream Ecological Valuation's with electric fishing, herpetological and vegetation surveys, producing Ecological Impact Assessments and Ecological Management and Restoration Plans.
Outside of work, Shannen volunteers her time as the New Zealand Students and Early Careers Representative for the Environment Institute of Australia and New Zealand (EIANZ), organising events and programmes to build the capacity of New Zealand’s emerging environmental professionals. In her spare time, she can also be seen living an active lifestyle in the gym, on the football pitch or hiking in native bush.
