With a broad and contemporary knowledge of the planning sector, Sophie prides herself on taking a holistic approach.
Joining 4Sight in May 2021 as an intern, Sophie quickly transitioned to a full-time Graduate Planning and Policy Consultant in November 2021 after completing her Masters Degree.
Working closely alongside our Auckland and wider Planning teams, Sophie has worked on a variety of projects (with local government and private clients) across New Zealand and has prepared and lodged resource consents and assisted with policy submissions and the preparation of evidence.
She has Masters in Planning, and a Bachelor of Science (Geography and Psychology) from the University of Auckland and her thesis focused on the role and value of indigenous knowledge in creating more equitable visions for the environment. The foundation of her research was to re-insert indigenous ideals into post-colonial cities and consider how this legacy can continue within the urban planning discipline.
The opportunity to positively influence individuals and communities within an urban setting is a strong motivator for her choosing this career path. She also enjoys connecting with people and has a strong appreciation of the natural and built environment, and believes that urban planning will allow her to build a career around these areas of interest. Through a career in urban planning, she hopes to create functional and appealing environments that will improve the lives of many.
Originally from Wellington, Sophie has lived in Auckland for five years and loves its fast-paced environment. She has always led an active lifestyle, and in her spare time, she enjoys going to the gym, making new friends, travelling, and spending time with family.
