4Sight Consulting developed the landscape design and acquired resource consents for this pivotal project to provide homes for all budgets in the Whakarongo area of Palmerston North.
4Sight was specifically engaged to assist in the preparation of a subdivision design and a Comprehensive Development Plan for Palmerston North City Council (PNCC) and provided Landscape Architecture, Urban Design, Planning, Ecology, and Contaminated Land expertise. We were also involved in the resource consent application and stakeholder consultation.
Key design elements for the project included the enhancement of waterways, celebrating local iwi connections to the area and the re-introduction of endemic native plant species. The subdivision was further supported by a pedestrian and cycle-friendly network and a central stormwater treatment park.
The vision for the project was to create a comprehensively designed residential subdivision that responds to and exemplifies the District Plan requirements and desired outcomes for the area. It involves the construction of 50 medium-density affordable homes and aims to give more people a hand-up into the property market.
Earthworks and planting for the site are currently underway and set to be completed in early 2022. 4Sight’s Landscape Architect’s and Planners are currently working on progressing consent for the adjoining Stage 2 part of the subdivision.
